With the collaboration of the municipal authorities, we successful held the 3rd Yellow-eared Parrot and Wax Palm Festival on 2-5 May 2008 in Roncesvalles, Department of Tolima.
In this festival, 50 local and regional activities were presented including dances, plays, songs, and poems that highlighted the cultural diversity of this Andean region. The display of colors, landscapes, and images of parrots, palms, and birds revealed artistic creativity and beauty within paintings, costumes, handicrafts and other objects on exhibition.

The “Life of the Yellow-eared Parrot and the Palm Wax” parade involved more than 90 people with costumes of parrots and palms.
In total, more than 500 people directly participated with costumes and materials in the town of Roncesvalles, which made a river of green and yellow colors. This together with live music made for a very enjoyable festival to celebrate the community’s commitment to protect its natural and cultural heritage.
