sA2In the attempt to strengthen activities of environmental education carried out in San Andrés Island to promote the knowledge and conservation of birds, ProAves joins the yearly Caribbean Endemic Birds Festival, celebrated in Colombia and in 23 other countries of the region.

In the Festival’s framework, diverse environmental education workshops, bird site-seeing walks, creative painting contests and art-crafts workshops are carried out, especially about the endemic species of the Island, the Vireo (Vireo caribaeus), and the importance to know and preserve this species.

A month for the Caribbean birds!

With the slogan “Celebrating Birds in Culture”, the VIII Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival is being held from April 22 to May 22, 2009, organized by the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds. On San Andrés Island, Colombia, ProAves is supporting the festival with various activities.
