The purpose of the meeting was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), a cocktail was also held at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC, where participants, including ProAves, honored countless generations who have shown us how to provide responsible stewardship of the land, water and sky.
In the event, Heidy Valle, Deputy Director of Restoration and Conservation of the ProAves Foundation, explained the objective of the campaign “For the pride of Roncesvalles – El Espinal and the Reciprocal Water Agreements” which from 2010, thanks to the support of RARE Conservation, decided to prepare for this project with a social marketing campaign to refine conservation strategies and thus achieve a behavioral change in the community, in this case the Reciprocal Water Agreements. The campaign is currently underway in the towns of Roncesvalles and El Espinal (Tolima).

Because of the importance of the project, The Fund for Global Environment Conservation invited RARE as a partner and they invited ProAves to the meeting, being a high value achievement for the Foundation, as the GEF is the largest financer of projects to improve the global environment. Also, through its Small Grants Program (SGP), GEF has made more than 12,000 small grants directly to NGOs and the community in general.
