For the past three years the restoration and reforestation in Ranita Dorada Amphibian Reserve has been developed with the aim of promoting connectivity, recovery of open areas and to provide plants used for foraging wildlife, especially birds.

Located in the department of Tolima, the Amphibian Reserve Ranita Dorada is the first Reserve in the world created for the conservation of threatened species belonging to this order.

Thanks to the work done so far, a remarkable regeneration of native plant species can be seen in primary and secondary succession in what were previously pastures, recovering part of the habitat for several species of amphibians including two spectacular endemic and endangered frogs, and Ranitomeya doriswainsonae and Ranitomeya tolimense found here.

With these activities, ProAves is meeting the objectives in establishing silvopastoral systems, implementing hedges, reforestation at water sources, along the banks of rivers and streams, natural regeneration of stocks in pastures, coffee and cocoa shade plantations, working with the community and towns for the recovery of watersheds and the donation of trees for meeting the commitments in the easements.

Finally, during these years of work over 1,850 acres of pastures, margins of streams and rivers in different parts of country have been replanted and restored, not only giving proper management of these areas but also providing food supply for wildlife.
