ProAves is leader in training young researchers in Colombia, with our Scholarships, Thesis Program, aimed to link biology students or young professionals, so that they make short investigations on different species and subjects.
Fundación ProAves since 2001 has supported over 70 thesis studies, and small investigations.
Since we started, about 70 students and/or researchers from 12 universities have been involved. In addition, the studies of the program have covered 12 departments within Colombia and extended the knowledge of 31 threatened species of Colombia, 28 studies on birds, and 3 other groups.
This program has focused its studies mainly in ecology and reproduction of threatened species of Colombia. Among these projects there are: identification of aspects related to foraging and reproduction of a threatened parrots, habitat selection for the Gorgeted Wood-quail and a study of the population and conservation of the Chestnut-capped Piha populations.
