Fest.loro.ame.1Threatened Parrots Festival is a massive event that takes place in the second half of each year to invite the community to help protect the habitat of species that are endangered species like the Yellow-eared Parrot, bird its dependence on the habitat and food has been strongly affected almost taking it to extinction. Like this there are other species that are going through the same situation as in the case of Loro Coroniazul.

ProAves has been promoting for over 6 years this campaign to raise awareness and educate the public against the environmental impacts that are generating the different types of ecosystems.

Celebrating the birds of Colombia

With the objective of creating community interest in the protection of the Yellow-eared Parrot and migratory birds in Colombia, the 8th Migratory Birds Festival and the 3rd Yellow-eared Parrot Festival were celebrated in Antioquia and the 7th Fuertes’s Parrot Festival in Quindío.

VII Fuertes’s Parrot Festival 2011

A celebration will take place celebrating the Fuertes’s Parrot (Hapalopsittaca fuertesi) becoming the official environmental symbol for the Municipality of Génova in Quindío. This beautiful and Critically Endangered parrot is now the flagship for the community Festival on Oct 4.

Yellow-eared parrot & Wax Palm Festival news

Incredible costumes, folk music, colors, and banners, filled the streets as processions of local conservationists in towns across Tolima, Quindío and Antioquia to proclaim the 4th Festival of the Yellow-eared parrot and the Wax Palm thanks to Fundación Loro Parque.
