Key species

The Reserve is the habitat of 5 threatened parrot species, including 3 endemic to Colombia: the Yellow-eared Parrot (Ognorhynchus Icterotis) (CR), Blue-crowned Parrot (Hapalopsittaca fuertesi) (CR) and the Frentirrufo Parakeet (Bolborhynchus ferrugineifrons) (VU); We also preserve the Paramuno Parakeet (Leptosittaca branickii) (VU), and the Montañera Parakeet (Hapalopsittaca amazonina) (VU). Additionally, we find populations of large mammals such as the spectacled bear, the mountain tapir and the deer.

Location

It is located on the eastern flank of the Colombian Central Cordillera, in the Potosí Alto village, in the municipality of Cajamarca, Tolima. (See mapa).

The Reserve comprises a large sample of high Andean and cloud forest.
