LOCATION

It is located in the eastern part of Colombia in the department of Guainía, located to the south east of the Eastern Cordillera, in the municipality of Puerto Inírida, Vereda raudal de la Mapiripana, it has only one access road through the Guaviare River. It is located 280 km from the urban area of ​​the municipality of Mapiripán (speed boat) 8 hours and 417 km from the municipality of Puerto Inírida (speed boat 16 hours).

The ProAves Águila Harpía Reserve is characterized by having a transitional jungle, as it passes from the savannah of the Orinoquía, gallery forests to the Amazonian humid jungle. Its plant structure is Dense High Earth Forest
Firm, transformed vegetation (weeded grasses), Dense Lowland Forest of Tierra Firme
and Dense High Heterogeneous Floodplain Forest:
The families best represented in number of species are Mimosaceae, Moraceae, Melastomataceae, Lauraceae,
Fabaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Rubiaceae, Burseraceae, Sapotaceae, and Myrtaceae.
