Atlapetes schistaceus.

Aimed at students of biology, ecology related sciences, researchers, public sector officials in the environmental sector and all those interested in studying birds.

Objective

Train a group of people in various Bird Monitoring Techniques and through the results of their research, provide information and tools for the conservation of birds to the scientific community and decision makers in Colombia. Upon completion of the course participants will be able to:

• Conduct research using different methods of monitoring of birds.
• Develop proposals for projects seeking funding for research, including monitoring of birds in conservation processes.
• Expand your knowledge and statistical data analysis applied to the monitoring of birds.
• Have the basics for writing scientific articles.

Course Structure

Seven modules to develop theoretical sessions – practice, as follows:

a. Field methods for monitoring landbirds.
b. Materials and radio-tracking techniques.
c. Recording techniques.
d. Classification and management of biological collections.
e. Project formulation and preparation of proposals for funding.
f. Basic statistics applied to the monitoring of birds.
g. Publication of results.
