After many trips conducted by the Parrot Bus in different regions of Colombia, ProAves have launched a new amnesty campaign to request children to hand in their slingshot and other objects use to attempt against birds. The initiative began in August 2007, in 13 municipalities of the department of Caldas by means of an agreement established between ProAves and the regional environmental corporation, Corpocaldas.

In the first days of the amnesty 12 slingshots and 3 guns were handed in by 15 children of the municipalities of Victoria, Pácora and La Merced; in return, they received mini-field guides donated by Conservation International and ProAves, which will allow them to learn about the importance of conserving Colombia’s rich fauna.
