The success of this campaign is measured from 10 years ago, as a result of hard work in environmental education through informative lectures, radio programs and cultural and environmental events run by ProAves Foundation with support from the Catholic Church and town institutions.
One of the main characters of the event was the parrot “Otorrico” which was created by the Foundation after the rediscovery of the Yellow-eared Parrot to promote awareness and commitment in caring for their habitat, the Wax Palm and other natural resources; thus strengthening the integration of the community primarily among children and youths.
“Otorrico” delivered pine branches to the population and green cinitilla as a symbol of their willingness to preserve the national tree.
