The campaign Rejoin with Nature 2007, which promotes the conservation of the Wax Palm and the Yellow-eared Parrot, began March 16 in Bogotá with a ceremony to launch the campaign by the Minister of Environment Juan Lozano, accompanied by the directors of the other institutions that led the campaign: ProAves, Conservation International, Conferencia Episcopal and Botanical Garden of Bogotá.

Four different awareness activities with the community.

The activities took place in the departments of Boyacá, Caldas, Quindío, Tolima, and Cundinamarca, and the city of Bogotá. They included the “Procesión of the Domingo de Ramos” with alternative palms to the Wax Palm and drawings and painting sessions. ProAves organized activities in Jardín (Antioquia), Roncesvalles (Tolima) and Génova (Quindío) throughout 21 sites, during which we reached more than 15 thousand people.

The municipality of Roncesvalles carried out its Second Festival of the Yellow-eared Parrot and the Wax Palm, and the regional independent corporations of Caldas and Quindío developed numerous regional activities such as criteria to distinguish between the different species of palms, and donation of alternative plants to be used as replacements during Easter Celebration.
