Fundación ProAves – por la conservación en el país de las aves
Authors submitting an article to Conservación Colombiana must declare, through a document signed by them, that the article has not been previously published nor accepted for publication in another journal or any other scientific dissemination platform.
The articles published in the journal are the sole responsibility of their authors and not of Fundación ProAves, the journal, or its editors.
The journal accepts manuscripts that are scientific research articles, as well as current notes, reviews, and bibliographic novelties (this type of article includes species lists, inventories, databases, among others). Of particular interest to the journal are descriptions of species new to science, new geographic records, and regional biodiversity checklists.
Submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by qualified scientific peers, and the final evaluation may result in:
All manuscripts submitted to Conservación Colombiana are treated as confidential documents. The manuscript evaluation process is anonymous for both authors and reviewers. This is a double-blind process: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. There are at least two reviewers per manuscript. Most reviewers are external to the publishing institution.
The peer review process takes a minimum of three to four months from the date the article is received by Conservación Colombiana.
The digital contents of the journal published by Conservación Colombiana are disseminated under the principle of open access (Transparency Law 1712 of 2014 and the regulations of the Administrative Department of Science, Technology and Innovation – Colciencias).
Submission of an article by the authors is understood as acceptance of the open access statement. This means that the different volumes of Conservación Colombiana are freely available to the public on any platform and in digital format, including any journal management system.
In this way, Conservación Colombiana aims to increase the visibility of research findings and expand the availability of research output. The journal does not charge Article Processing Charges (APC), so submission and the editorial process are free for all authors.
This journal uses the LOCKSS digital preservation system, which provides open-source digital preservation services with the aim of ensuring permanent access to the digital content generated through our publication, regardless of the platform used at any given time (it creates a distributed archiving system among libraries). Additionally, it enables the secure sharing of digital content among participating libraries.
By submitting an article to Conservación Colombiana, authors affirm that they have no conflicts of interest related to benefits, advantages, profits, or relationships—financial or otherwise—that could potentially influence their objectivity.
Such conflicts must be disclosed when they are directly or indirectly related to the article submitted to the journal. It is worth noting that the existence of a conflict of interest does not automatically preclude publication, provided it is disclosed and clearly explained in a footnote or acknowledgment section.
The corresponding or lead author is responsible for informing the other authors, if applicable, of the existence of this policy and ensuring its compliance. If there is no conflict of interest, the following statement must be included: “The author(s) declare that there is no conflict of interest regarding the publication of this manuscript.”
