We work in partnership with several international organizations for the protection and conservation of Neotropical migratory birds. Since 2011, we have been monitoring the Golden-winged Warbler (Vermivora chrysoptera), among other species.
In addition, to protect these species, a 28,842-meter conservation corridor was created between the ProAves Reinita Cielo Azul and Pauxi Pauxi reserves. Likewise, with the aim of generating connectivity between forest patches, the main habitat of the blue-throated green warbler (Setophaga cerulea), a migratory species threatened with extinction, more than 560,000 seedlings have been planted in coffee and cocoa growing areas adjacent to the reserves and located within the corridor.
Every year, approximately 173 species of migratory birds pass through Colombia in search of food and warm territories. They play a fundamental role in ecosystems and their conservation, which is why it is so important to preserve these habitats.
ProAves Reserves are key conservation sites, which is why different migratory species pass through their corridors every year. For this reason, the ProAves Foundation has been runningits migratory bird program for more than 15 years, with the aim of assessing the status of species and collecting valuable information on changes and trends in populations.
