This is a scientific journal published semiannually by Fundación ProAves. Its content is reviewed by an editorial board and a group of peer reviewers.

Its purpose is to disseminate the results of research and conservation actions focused on endangered species across various biological groups, including the management of biological resources and the use of biodiversity in Colombia.

The types of articles published are varied and include:

  • Internal reports on conservation activities developed by ProAves.
  • Results from research and monitoring of threatened species.
  • Undergraduate theses from university students.
  • Species inventories and population counts.
  • Action plans or strategies developed for particular species, sites, or regions.
  • Advances in the expansion of the protected areas network in the country.

The journal’s digital content is shared under the principle of open access.
Conservación Colombiana strives to make research results more visible and widely accessible to any audience through free access on any platform and digital media, including journal management systems. The journal does not charge article processing charges (APCs), making the submission and editorial process free for all authors.
