The sites chosen by ProAves to make up its reserves correspond to sites identified by the Alliance for Zero Extinction (AZE). This alliance is a coalition of 63 conservation NGOs around the world, including ProAves. In Colombia there are 48 of the 595 most important sites for the conservation of threatened species in the world, and most are without adequate protection.
