in our forests, páramos, and jungles. However, many of them are on the brink of extinction.
WHY ARE AMPHIBIANS IMPORTANT?
Amphibians are vital indicators of ecosystem health, they help control pests, serve as food for other species, and contribute to maintaining natural balance.
Meet some of the amphibians we protect in our ProAves Nature Reserves:
Disrupts reproductive cycles and geographic distribution.
Illegal trade and collection:
Many species are sold as pets.
Diseases such as chytridiomycosis:
A deadly fungus that has caused mass extinctions.
WHAT ARE WE DOING?
At ProAves, in partnership with the World Land Trust (WLT), we are working to protect various amphibians in our Nature Reserves through monitoring programs, research, habitat restoration, environmental education activities, and communication campaigns to prevent their illegal trade.
