We are a non-governmental, non-profit, Colombian organization with a free and open membership to all who want to share our vision to prevent the extinction of endangered species and protect in perpetuity its key areas, in association with citizens proud of their natural resources.
Membership
Membership is the title that gives the member the right to enjoy the benefits ProAves offers, as well as the obligation to comply with the duties established.
Those who identify with the mission, principles and objects of the Foundation. Who have registered using the form found on the website or using the physical form. Who are subsequently approved by the General Assembly, which takes place annually on the first Saturday in March, will obtain the position of Active Members and may participate in the ordinary and extraordinary general meetings with their voice and their vote.
Eligibility for Membership
Members can be those natural or legal persons, who identifying with the principles and objects of the Foundation, present their request to the General Assembly.
- A fundamental requirement is that the member be over 18 years of age.
- It is essential that the person who wants to join the membership have an email account, since the greatest contact will be made by this means.
Members’ rights
- Opt in to all the benefits ProAves has made available, such as seminars, training courses and any type of activity that they may join, in the case that they have some economic cost this will be borne by the member.
- A 10% discount for the purchase of ProAves Foundation books; the submission of the Colombian cedula is a requirement.
- A 20% discount to participate as a ProAves volunteer presenting the Colombian cedula.
- A 50% discount on visiting the ProAves of Colombia reserves on presenting the Colombian cedula and booked 5 days prior (the discount only applies for admission to the reserve, the cost of staying will be borne by the member).
Obligations of Members
- Uphold the regular and special obligations formally agreed.
- Actively participate in a timely manner at each meeting and at regular and special meetings of the General Assembly.
- If the member does not participate in meetings in person or via email, fax or skype they lose the right to be a member.
- Actively participate in any activity that ProAves organizes within the scope of their own activities.

Aleteo: Access to our newsletter ALETEO, developed in order to disseminate the activities of team members during the month.
Forums in Internet: News and information of interest may be shared as well as keeping members aware of environmental innovations that are being developed worldwide.
Social Networking: They may also have access to TWITTER and FACEBOOK pages, where they can see the profiles of some of the members and even contact them to maintain a closer relationship. We provide a contact point for professional members or non- professional members, in which they can exchange information of interest and in which they can express social and cultural views.
Visiting the reserves: Free visits to different Nature Reserves.
Access to information: Annual reports related to the work carried on by the Foundation ProAves.
Job Opportunities: Our members will have priority when participating in applications for jobs submitted to the Foundation can join the workforce.
Through our conservation, research and environmental education we have managed to reach out to more people not only in this country but also in other places in the world where the news of our achievements have reached, so at the end of 2013 we have over 1,000 active members who share our mission and support our conservation actions.
