Since 2003 ProAves Foundation has been working with the establishment of nurseries to produce native seedlings needed for the recovery of habitat for bird species in addition to providing the food supply based on information provided by research on habitat use and ecology that has been generated about the various endangered species and migratory birds.
That is why from the studies and work sites, we located 8 Temporary Nurseries producing native plants according to the ecosystems. These nurseries are located at the following locations: Santa Marta, Magdalena (rainforests and Andean forests), San Vicente de Chucuri, Santander (tropical and sub-Andean forests) and Zapatoca, Santander (dry forest); Anori (sub-Andean forests), Jardín (Andean forests) and Urrao, Antioquia (Andean forests and moors.) Roncesvalles (Andean forests and moors) and Falán, Tolima (sub-Andean forests).
It has an annual production of over 250,000 seedlings of 56 species.
